“Permit the Children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Mark 10:1

Spring has finally arrived! Fresh air is great for the soul and so Mrs. Koehler’s class will be going outside to enjoy God’s wonderful creation as much as possible.

We continue our daily Bible lessons in the book of Daniel. We are reading the accounts of King Nebuchadnezzer and learning how he was cast out of his kingdom when he refused to recognize that God was the ruler and Most High over mankind! The book of Daniel has taught us many lessons about faithful service to God.

We have now completed the alphabet; the children have learned to say, write and make the sound of each letter. We are going to finish out the year by putting letters together to make words.

We have completed reading “A Winters Tale.” We read this story from a book entitled Lamb’s Tales from Shakespeare. This was an emotional and thrilling adventure story. The children were devastated when the Queen died from a broken heart and then they were excited when they found out she wasn’t really dead. The children loved this story, this was evident in their oral and picture narrations. I really enjoyed sharing this experience with my class. I hope their love of classic literature continues throughout their lives.

We had two adventurous field trips this month. We started the first one at Clifty Falls State Park where the weather did not cooperate, so we went to the library. The children were fine with this since the library has a lovely children’s section. We ended the day with a walk on the river front. On our second adventure we spent a beautiful spring day at the Hanover Park. They have a wonderful playground equipped with swings, slides, bouncing bridges, and even a climbing wall. We went on a nature walk where we found budding flowers and observed many different types of birds. The children made use of the outdoor amphitheater where they acted out, “The Billy Goats Gruff.” The children really enjoyed being able to explore a new and exciting place. A good time was had by all!
